AUGIST 10TH, 2014

Geri and Paul's wedding began with plans for August 16th, but the date wasn't available for them. And as I  always say things happen for a reason. Their wedding was set to be on August 10th when there was a SUPER MOON, it is the biggest and the brightest  full moon in the entire year! The moon makes its closest pass to Earth!  It was really so bright that I was able to drive back home on the winding  roads with the lights turned off ( of course I didn't do that').

After looking at my wedding photography Geri contacted me explaining how much she likes it and she would like me to be her wedding photographer.  The first time I met with her to talk about her wedding plans was at the Starbucks coffee at Barnes and Noble in Walnut Creek  in January this year. The initial conversation was about having their wedding at the delta's historic GRAND ISLAND MANSION  and how beautiful the location was for photography, and of course perfectly matching their vision and style for their dream wedding. And yes,  it has it all - from the upscale look referring to the Italian Renaissance villa style to the farm land outside of the property!  Speaking about history Geri who graduated fashion design consciously matched her wedding dress to the style of the venue. She was wearing a classic dress referring to a Greek Goddess. While photographing her getting ready I thought that her dress, hair, makeup and red lipstick were the best look for the historic atmosphere of the venue. For most of the getting ready photos I used natural light, which gave me all what I need to create timeless moments and to capture the romantic feeling of the big day. Some of the photos I took inside the dressing room reminded me for one of those actresses in the early 20th century who played Cleopatra or other historical figures.

Right across the dressing room was the private theater and I thought that it was the best place for hanging the bridal dress next to all the actresses and actors classic black and white portraits.  The dress was designed by MARCHESA

I call this image 'The struggle of zipping off the wedding dress' . I love this juxtaposed moment (or you can also call it portrait) of Geri and her brother’s hands.

I always adore shooting the mother and daughter moment during the getting ready. This is where you see the mother’s first look at her daughter with the white dress. I feel that this  is the moment when the mother realizes that her daughter from this day on begins to build her own family.

Thanks to the natural light I used from the window I was able to create images with cinematic quality.  Hair and make-up done by salon DEEDA

The theme of the wedding colors was in the classic look of red and white.

The outdoor ceremony started at 6pm. It was cloudy  and the light was just perfect - soft and defused.

Emotional image of the bride during the ceremony.

First , we had only 30 min ( between the ceremony and reception time) to do all the formal and bridal party / bride and groom photo session , but thanks to Tara the event coordinator , who extended the dinner time to 7:25pm we didn't have to rush so much and we had the opportunity to shoot on few locations around the property. During that time the guests were enjoying the cocktail hour in the front patio.

I was able to get this shot from the second floor balcony of the main building.

And these are some of my favorite images I took of Geri and Paul

The wedding rings were engraved inside with th bride and groom's names and their wedding date.

And let's the party begin!  After the dinner everyone came downstairs at the pool area where the fun part of the evening took place!

For all of our surprise we had THE SUPER MOON  at the wedding that was hiding and showing behind the clouds. It was an amazing scenery.

The wonderful mix of music was played by DJ Sam

Thank you Geri and Paul for giving me the opportunity to photograph one of the most special days in your life. I am congratulating you and wishing you the happiest marriage ever. Always be in love and love each other!
