HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR ENGAGEMENT PHOTO SESSION
Gergana and Paul’s Springtime Engagement Photo Session at Napa Valley
If you live and work in the Bay Area of San Francisco, and you want to have a romantic date and relaxing weekend what would be one of the first locations you would choose to visit? Of course Napa Valley!
This is the story of Geri and Paul. When I asked them if they have preferred locations for their engagement photo session that relate to them and things they like to do together, they answered without hesitation: We like to wine and dine and we love spending time together when we can at Napa Valley. So, this is where I shot their engagement photo session. It turned out to be a lovely afternoon at a winery that we all visited for first time. The place was the famous castle in the valley called Castello di Amorosa located at Calistoga. The castle was build in nowadays, influenced by the Italian medieval architecture
When we discussed the theme and outfits for the session Gergana, who I forgot to mention is a fashion designer, told me that she loves the look of 1950s fashion.. so do I. A period in the industry definitely worth our attention. Indeed, it was the perfect combination between the location and their outfits.
The location was unfamiliar to all of us and the best way to capture the romantic relationship of Geri and Paul and the location itself was just to follow them while sightseeing the place. That day I enjoyed capturing candid moments, beautiful spring colors and lots and lots of love in the air! We had a fabulous time.
On the way back we stopped on the side of the road near a vineyard where the sunbeams were lighting the top of the grass and the colors of the sunset were like an aureole surrounding these two love birds. The landscape was spectacular.
And here, I want to mention that the photos are done between 4-6pm in the middle of March. If you want to do your engagement photo session or any outdoor portraits in the Bay Area or Northern CA when everything is green and the flowers are blooming the best time is from February to April. Also, the day is getting longer!
