The fairy tale wedding of Lisa and Alex
June 2nd, 2013
L & A wedding took place deep in the woods in the area of La Honda, CA . Driving to get there was quite a chalange but it was absolutely worth it. One of my best experiences at weddings I have ever had. Everything was so inspiring starting from the newlyweds, their guests, the location, the music and of course the simplicity of the whole wedding as a venue and planning. Surprisingly a lot of the guests and including the host of the property Cliff Jenkins are listening and dancing to Balkan music and especially to Bulgarian music, which made me feel proud of where I come from as Bulgarian. They even invited me to their next big Balkan event in September. And of course we happened to have common friends. What a small world!
These two shot of the bride's shoes and the bride's dress are one of my favorite details/getting ready images from this year's weddings. The red shoes over the red Persian carpet and the white dress over the blue curtain lit from the back were just right there. The natural light really brought the real romantic mood of the day. I love when things just belong where they supposed to on a photograph. And one of my jobs as photographer and artist during wedding days is to be creative with finding objects through quick observation of the location.
When I took Lisa’s portraits I knew immediately they tell a story. The tea length dress, the tiara and the gorgeous cinematic light reminded me for Brothers Grimms’ fairy tales like ‘The King Frog’ or the Disney adoption ‘The Princess and the Frog’ - beautiful stories about love.
Lisa and Alex editorial images in the forest inside the creek are some of my favorite bride and groom photos. They look to me so authentic and timeless...The painterly landscape surrounding them reminds for my childhood.
The absolutely delicious cake was done by Rachael Katra of Cake Whimsy
The beautiful hairstyle of Lisa was done by Lynne Hunt
This is the long story short about the red truck and the bridesmaids: all the girls knew each other since little girls and very often they rode the red Toyota truck, and had lots of lots of fun together.
If you have to compare these images to a music I would say classical music. Something like Piano and Light by Brian Crain
